Grammaire :

– Laisser prendre = Let him take
– Je suis d’accord avec (je suis pas d’accord avec) = I agree with (I disagree with)
– Les américains utilisent la constitution depuis 1787 = They have been using the constitution since 1787.
– Le congrès est composé de 2 chambres = The congress is composed of 2 chambers.
– Consist on/off entraine nom derrière. Consist in entraine unverbe derrière.
– Le même que … = The same as …
– Les Etats Unis sont un grand pays = The US « is » … (The Etats Unis = It).
– Obama est président depuis 2008 = Obama has been president since 2008.
– Tout les adjectives de pays ont une majuscule en anglais (American Constitution,…).
– Le federalisme =the federalism (pas d’article parce que c’est général)
– Les auteurs de la constitution =The founding fathers or framers
– La constitution = THE constitution (article car elle est déterminé et undénombrable)
– La plus part des solutions ont été aprouvées = Most solutions have been approved (et pas Most of the solutions sauf si c‘est pour définir un sous-groupe)

Les temps :

– Preterit : action qui appartientau passé, qui est datée, et qui n’a aucun lien avec le présent.
Ex : J’ai étudié les sciences politique pendants 4 ans = I studied (prétérit car pas de lien avec le présent car l’action est terminé) political science for 4 years (How long did…?).
Ex 2 : J’ai commencé le droit il y a 4 ans = I started low for years ago (How long ago did your start low?).

– Present perfect : action passé, quin’est pas datée et qui a un lien avec le présent (action non terminé)
Ex : J’ai pris un pull noire = I have taken a black pull.

– Past perfect (had + participe passé) : c’est pour repousser encore plus une action passé mais qui continu dans le moment présent (on utilise pas le présent). C’est un action passé et terminé qui est interrompu par le prétérite).
Ex : J’étudie le droit depuis 4 ans = Ihave studied low for 4 years (How long…?) / I have been studying low… (Since when…?)
J’étudiais les sciences propitious depuis 4 ans lorsque j’ai essayé de faire du droit = I had been studying (past perfect) political science when I decided (preterit) to start low.

Plessy v. Ferguson (May 18, 1896)

We have the civil war. After that, Lincoln proclaim the emancipation of black people. Equality between white and black people.
In 1896, that the first decision ofthe supreme court concerning the segregation. In is decision, the supreme court said that black and whit could be separated but stay equal. But the story start before that, in 1982
In 1892, they was a man, Homer Plessy, a shoemaker, black, born in 1862 and die 1925. He was send in prison because he violated the Louisiana Separate Car Act. They are a section for black and white people. Homer tryto show that the law was unconstitutional (amendment 13 and 14). At that time, they was a judge, named Ferguson, who live in Machachuchet. So we have to states. Ferguson said that Homer was guilty. Homer appeal the decision in the Louisiana supreme court. Homer Lose again and go in the Federal Supreme Court. Homer lose again.
The judge Harlan said that the constitution is colour blind….
